Inaugural Conference of the Society of Asian Food Studies & The 14th Asian Food Study Conference


PLANT-BASED DIETS:

TRADITION OF ASIAN FOOD AND THE FUTURE OF THE WORLD

Dear Participants:


The Inaugural Conference of Society of Asian Food Studies &14th Asian Food Study Conference is going to be held in Bangkok next Saturday(17th) and Sunday(18th). There will be participants from eight countries. The event features three keynote speakers from Thailand, Japan and China, along with thirty-three presentations in eight panel sessions. With the full support of Chulalongkorn University, the Society of Asian Food Studies, jointly initiated by scholars from China, Japan and Thailand, was officially established. The Asian Food Study Conference will continue as an important annual event of the Society. All delegates to the 14th AFSC are considered as the first members of the Society. Meanwhile, the Council agreed to set an office in China at Zhejiang Merchant Institute of Zhejiang Gongshang University. Yet has planned to add another venue in Hangzhou at 8th September. 


In the future, the Society of Asian Food Studies will keep on the academic legacy of AFSC, provide a network for scholars worldwide to share great minds and connected with each other. It will continue to carry on the wisdom from of Asian food and foodways, and to make progress for civilization. Therefore, we look forward to meeting all delegates from all walks of life!

Notes and reminders

1. Delegates who have confirmed to pay cash on arrival, please prepare the exact amount of baht to complete the registration. Handwriting receipt will be provided if needed.

2. As most delegates are capable with foreign language, zoom translated captions will be used for automatically translated in real-time. You are suggested to bring your mobile devices with earphones and zoom installed. The committee will send the link and password to delegates by email on August 16.

3. For the schedule going smoothly, every presenter is required to finish the presentation in time bar, so is every commentator. Moderators are obliged to remind and coordinate the group members for every step.

4. Delegates are welcomed to remind us by the end of 10th (Sat.) if there is anything missing or inappropriate in the agenda table.

5. Presenters slides would be sent to the related commentator for preparation. Commentators are required to keep it confidential and do not use the content for any other occasion or purpose.

2. Regular Registration: 6,000 Baht (till Aug 16th, 2024) per person

The conference registration fee includes conference materials, one-year membership fee for the Asian Food Studies Society, lunch, and refreshments during the conference.

In order to enrich the society's activities, a branch venue in Hangzhou China has been added. Four guest speakers will be invited. More details will be posted later.
